The advice and support service for businesses across Tamworth and Lichfield has been boosted with the appointment of two new advisors.  Their aim is to help as many SMEs as possible within the next few months.

FOS expand their remit for business

This week I am pleased to see that the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) have expanded their remit.  I hope that local businesses will now be better able to get their problems resolved if they encounter issues with financial services companies.

Becoming a Teal Hero

Today I switched to my teal-cape wearing alter-ego to show support for women with ovarian cancer.

The 'teal hero' event was organised by the All Parliamentary Group for Ovarian Cancer, it gave MPs the chance to dress as teal heroes to raise awareness of the symptoms of cancer.

Future of the George Bryan Centre

When the George Bryan Centre was struck by that terrible suspected arson attack earlier this year, the Government and Department of Health and Social Care quickly offered their help and support.  Thankfully no lives were lost and the NHS did not require Government help.

Zoopla ending 'no dss' adverts

Late last week the property firm Zoopla announced that it will be removing 'no DSS' wording in their rental listings.  This is in response to pressure being put on estate agents to stop blanket restrictions on renters who receive housing benefit support.

Fruit and Veg Scheme for Schools

The School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (SFVS) is a Government programme that entitles every child aged 4-6 in fully state-funded schools to a piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. Across England, this equates to 2.3 million children across 16,600 schools.
