Talktalk broadband for jobseekers

TalkTalk have launched a scheme with the DWP that provides free broadband to Jobseekers to help them secure work.

The scheme provides Jobseekers with a six month contract of free broadband though a home router, something which would usually cost £23 a month.  After the six months customers can cancel at no cost or choose to continue to move onto a paid contract.

Anyone who wants to access this scheme needs to make a request through their Jobcentre Coach who can help organise the set up. The Jobcentre provides a referral code for you, helping you not only bypass the credit check but to fast track you towards an internet connection.

The importance of a connection to the internet and the opportunities which open up for people online are massive, so this is a great initiative in helping people get back to work.

While unemployment is dropping in Tamworth now that the economy has re-opened, we still have 2,595 people actively seeking work in the local area.  This is lower than the UK average for towns like ours but with so much opportunity out there, I hope more will take advantage of the free broadband offer to help them secure training, part time or full time work.
