Arty Fun at Tamworth Castle

Well done to all the individuals and groups who participated in weaving, designing and creating cloth pieces for the Mill art installation.  The community came together to create a piece to reflect upon Tamworth's past and in particular the Mill which was situationed between the river and the Castle Grounds.

From grinding corn to making fabric this Mill can no longer be seen but remnants were found recently in the big community dig! So much was found that Tamworth Borough Council will be running another community dig in March of this year, if you would like to try your hand at digging, or get the kids involved, book a slot online at

Anyone can look on during the dig but if you want to get involved, you will need to book!

In the meantime, take a wander through the Castle Grounds and take a look at the woven fabrics, an indicator that the talent, creativity and hard work of Tamworth's past is still very much present in our town today!

Promoting community groups

It’s the first of August so that means it’s time to kick off my annual social media campaign! It started with Defib a Day, and last year I focused on small business, but this year I want to focus on those important community groups that rely on valuable volunteers to keep going.

Promote Tamworth Jobs and Tourism

Tourism is currently worth £127 billion to Britain’s economy and as Britain’s seventh largest export industry, inbound tourism’s economic contribution is currently valued at £26.2 billion. We are lucky to have so much on our doorstep that I want to continue to promote.
