Cancer hasn’t stopped during COVID-19, and neither has Macmillan. Every penny raised at a Macmillan Coffee Morning helps them to provide vital support to people with cancer, who need it now more than ever.
Today my team and I are raising a mug to Macmillan Cancer and I know that any funds raised at local events for the local Macmillan group stay local. It is a real community supporting the community effort, so whether you are passing through the Tamworth Market and Ankerside coffee morning or hosting one in your home home, be proud to know your pounds and pennies are helping local residents!
Cancer is a priority for the Government and survival rates are at a record high. Since 2010 rates of survival from cancer have increased year-on-year. Around 7,000 people are alive today who would not have been had mortality rates stayed the same as then. While there is no doubt that Covid19 has set back some diagnostics and treatment, the NHS are getting back on track offering therapies, surgeries and scans in Covid-safe environments to help more people than ever tackle cancer once and for all.
