Christopher Pincher MP congratulates County Council on delivering the 1,000th food parcel to the vulnerable
Speaking to the Tamworth Herald, Christopher Pincher MP said:
“The County Council are doing a brilliant job in responding to this unprecedented public health crisis. They recently delivered their 1,000th food parcel to vulnerable Staffordshire residents.
“In my role as a Local Government Minister I have seen up and down our country the great work local councils are doing in delivering the Government’s response to the Coronavirus. Staffordshire County Council have shown that they have the skills and gusto to deliver for Staffordshire residents.
“Thank you to everyone in Tamworth and our villages, who is helping to deliver these meals, from those who do the shopping, to those who pack the boxes and go out a deliver them. We have a great sense of community across our town, villages and county and it shows the best of who we are.
“The Government has been contacting the most vulnerable people in our society and part of this is a nation service, ensuring that residents do not struggle for food while they are doing the right think and shielding themselves. This is spearheaded by the Government and works in close partnership with the grocery industry, Local Government and Local Resilience Forums.
“If your or anyone you know is a vulnerable person that needs help, please do get in touch with myself or one of your local Councillors and we will help you get the support you need.
“Keep going all, the data indicates we may be over the peak but we cannot throw away all the work we have done. Like a parachute, as you begin to slow your descent, you do not cast away the parachute, you allow it to bring you to a controlled stop.
“Remember: Stay at Home, Protect our NHS, Save Lives!”
