Today the Government announced that for people claiming ESA benefit, an intensive personalised employment support programme will be made available.
This will provide highly personalised employment support for people who are at least a year away from moving into work due to health condition or disability. The support comes from a £40 million fund and is expected to help 10,000 people.
Not only will participants receive coaching to help build their skills, confidence and independence but for those wanting it, there will be work experience options to help people gain references, update their skillsets and help boost their career prospects.
Everybody should be able to receive help and support into work if they want it. It shouldn't matter what their experience is or what background they come from, if you want the help it will be made available. Every claimant taking part will receive a dedicated key worker who will not only help people find work but also provide in-work support for up to 6 months to help with any problems transitioning.
This is in addition to other avenues of support such as the Disability Confident Scheme, Work Health Programme and Access to Work grants.
