The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, the group which manages Queens Burton, Samuel Johnson, Sir Robert Peel, London Road Derby and Royal Derby Hospitals is set to receive an extra £12.9 million extra in Government capital funding.
The money will be invested in equipment and IT, the IT system is of particular importance to the Trust as their systems are now very dated and in need of replacement. It is hoped that this will help with the Trust's recent partnership with NHS Digital to increase the use of technology for improving standards of care.
This is in addition to the funding granted for the Outwoods site a nursery, GP surgery and residential accommodation being built as part of a healthcare village near to the Queen's Hospital in Burton, making it easier for staff to access their workplace and focusing on preventative care and managing long term conditions.
I look forward to seeing how the money is spent, not just in the hospitals my constituents attend but within the Sir Robert Peel Hospital within my constituency. I will keep pressing for increased NHS funding, better care and more support for staff.
