This week we celebrate English Tourism Week. I met with the Tourism Minister Michael Ellis MP to chat about the fantastic attractions we have in and around Tamworth such as Tamworth Castle, the Snowdome and of course Drayton Manor.
There are also plenty of places growing in popularity and becoming established such as Staftfold Barn - soon to host its very own music festival, our beautiful Tame Valley Wetlands and St Andrew's Church Clifton Campville, which will soon be able to offer small tours to the very top of the church tower.
With plans for more tourist attractions, entertainment facilities and events on the way as well as infrastructure improvements such as changes to the public toilets in the Castle Grounds, the revamp of Wigginton Park, the Assembly Rooms and a planned canoe-trail Tamworth's tourism sector is growing from strength to strength.
This is in addition to the high street improvements the Council, local businesses and hopefully (following our bid) the Government's high street fund can bring.
I will continue to do all I can to make Tamworth one of the most well-known, parts of jewels in the crown of Britain.
