Now that cases are down, more staff are returning to work and this includes staff at the DVSA. From this week the driving test booking service has re-opened for new bookings.
While there is exceptionally high demand, the booking site will open for a few hours each day allowing people to book tests up to January of next year to try to clear the backlogs.
The DVSA has stated that fewer than 50% of applicants pass the test the first time so where possible, try to ensure you are completely confident and carry out practice tests before booking in, this will help the process move faster at a time when there is incredible demand for driving tests.
So if you're feeling confident and ready to get on the road you can book in here:
More broadly on other DVSA issues, I have been in regular contact with the team and the other services are also set to increase over the next few weeks with the aim of cutting the backlog and resuming a normal service.
