George Bryan Centre consultation

The Consultation to find a long-term solution for the inpatient mental health services which were previously provided at the George Bryan Centre has now opened.

The consultation will run until 23 March and you can participate in a number of ways:

📋 Below is a survey which runs through the business proposals put forward to centralise mental health inpatient services at St George's in Stafford. Residents are encouraged to take a look at the plans and provide their feedback. There are also a number of online events and roadshows if you would like to provide feedback in person.

It is incredibly disappointing that there is only one roadshow in Tamworth that has been listed so far and no events listed of an evening or weekend. I will be asking for more provision in this regard.

I feel that is only right that the people of Tamworth have numerous opportunities to offer feedback because centralising inpatient beds 30 miles away would ultimately have a negative impact on Tamworth residents.

This has been a long process and I recognise that many residents, local charities and NHS staff have stuck with the process throughout; taking the time to fill in feedback forms, respond at roadshow events and share experiences as patients and visitors to both the George Bryan Centre before the fire and using the current facility in Stafford.

Now a that business plan has been finalised by the Trust this is the last real opportunity for town residents to state a view on the future of the George Bryan Centre.

In my opinion it would be wrong to take inpatient facilities away, they should be local and accessible. The space is there for a new building, the site is known for mental health care and keeping assistance in our area will boost recovery rates and help us further expand upon our healthcare offering here in Tamworth.

I hope you will all participate in this consultation.

Save the George Bryan Centre

Since the arson attack in 2019, the George Bryan Centre has been unable to serve patients like it used to.

The NHS Trust knocked down the remainder of the build and temporarily moved the mental health services to St George's in Stafford.

Support Our NHS

Demand for the NHS only continues to rise, and as the population ages, there are a growing number of widespread chronic conditions which will be increasingly expensive and challenging to address, without a credible and effective plan to fund the NHS and social care.
