“It is fantastic news that the United Kingdom is the first country in the world to have a clinically approved vaccine for supply. With our regulations authority giving the Pfizer vaccine the green light, we are now in a place where the vaccine will be delivered next week. We owe a debt of gratitude to our scientists, researchers and volunteers who have made this possible. The United Kingdom is leading the way in the global fight against COVID-19, and the protection provided by this vaccine will ultimately allow us to reclaim our lives and get our economy fired up again.
“As a number of residents will also know, Tamworth has been benefitting from its own Mobile Testing Unit that has been set up on Saturdays and Sundays at the Sir Robert Peel Hospital. It has meant that those with symptoms can stay local as they go and get tested.
“I strongly welcome the extended days that Tamworth will get this testing site. Via the national test booking site we will have the testing units on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, having just had them on the Saturday and Sunday just past.
“This shows serious commitment from both the Government and the County Council in getting our high number of cases down, giving people the opportunity to get that test and ultimately in bringing Staffordshire, and Tamworth, out of Tier 3.”:
