Barclays to offer services at Offa House

barclays bank is closing but face to face service will remain

Barclays Bank on St Editha’s Square closes this week. Although there is construction work going on in the square to build a college directly opposite the bank, Barclays UK felt that there was not enough regular footfall within their Tamworth store to remain open.

Those who use Barclays, can still carry out transactions at the nearby Post Office but there was a strength of feeling that face-to-face customer service should still be maintained in the area, particularly for those who cannot use online services.

I met with Barclays last month to raise these concerns and I am pleased that the bank has committed to maintaining face-to-face services at @Community Together CIC Offa House, Orchard Street, Tamworth B79 7RE. This building is a short walking distance away from the current Barclay's bank - it is to the side of Marmion House.

The service opens from next week. Barclays staff will be available to speak to on - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm.

I hope the resource will be well used and that following the town centre regeneration work, Barclays will reconsider their stance.

Special thanks to the Community Together CIC team, Sarah Gayton at NFBUK who worked so hard on this project and all those who took the time to sign petitions and write to me sharing their concerns.

Barclays will continue to offer a face to face service at Offa House
