Save the George Bryan Centre

Since the arson attack in 2019, the George Bryan Centre has been unable to serve patients like it used to.

The NHS Trust knocked down the remainder of the build and temporarily moved the mental health services to St George's in Stafford.

Time has moved on and since then the NHS Trust has put forward no business case to rebuild the George Bryan Centre and re-establish local mental health support services.  This is not good enough.

I have been lobbying the Trust, our ICB and the Department of Health to get the George Bryan Centre rebuilt and back in action.

It is vital that we maintain local support for mental health care.  It makes it easy to access for patients, allows carers to visit and keeps jobs in our area.  Having an established crisis point is important and offering day services make a positive impact on many people's lives.

The Trust needs to recognise that in all the public consultations, petitions and surveys so far that residents of Tamworth have been clear they want to see the hospital rebuilt. I will continue to press for change.
