Make Tamworth Great Britain's Railway HQ

I am backing Tamworth to be the location for Great British Railway's HQ

Not only would winning the bid help boost our town regeneration project but Tamworth has a long history with rail.

Winning the bid could bring new audiences, new jobs, new STEM thinking and innovation to the town.

It could also help us show off Tamworth's top talent, from technology and engineering expertise to our fantastic heritage and tourism offer.

Tamworth is one of the few places where you can take a train to the capital every hour, thanks to being so well linked on railway network. Let's make more of it!

RAILWAY SURVEY

*Update July 2022*

Tamworth unfortunately didn't make it into the final shortlist but our friends in Birmingham did!! Let the Government know you want the HQ to be in the Midlands by participating in the public vote which runs until 15 August 2022

So many local people work in the rail industry in Birmingham, so this could be a real boost to our region!

Promote The Right Development

Everybody needs a place to live and this Government is committed to trying to fix the housing market. For many, property prices have become unattainable and it is important to keep building new, quality homes to meet this need.

Promote Tamworth Jobs and Tourism

Tourism is currently worth £127 billion to Britain’s economy and as Britain’s seventh largest export industry, inbound tourism’s economic contribution is currently valued at £26.2 billion. We are lucky to have so much on our doorstep that I want to continue to promote.

View From the House - March

When I went to Kiev in September 2019 on my first overseas visit as Europe Minister, two things struck me. First, I saw the deep pride that the Ukrainian people have in their national identity. They had fought long and hard to be recognised as a free people.

We're on the map - Stage 1 of Railway HQ Competition

Tamworth's application to be Great British Railway's new Headquarters has now been confirmed.

We're up against 41 other places but I'm confident that Tamworth has the business case, transport links and heart within the community to make our town the best choice.
