Get Tamworth Vaccinated

2020 was a year like no other with a global pandemic sweeping the world. I have done all I can to back research and support for tackling Covid19 both in hospitals and through public health campaigns.

A number of vaccines have now been fully approved for use to help boost immune systems, so we can focus on re-opening and getting back to normal.

While the vaccination is not a cure (yet) it is already saving lives, reducing dependency on hospital treatment and helping people tackle the virus if they do catch it without long-term harm.

For this reason I am encouraging all residents to book themselves in and get vaccinated when their GP sends an invite.

The vaccination programme is firing on all cylinders in Tamworth and the villages with large vaccination centres at Coton Green, Springpharm, the Exley Centre and Whitemoor Lakes and GPs offering surgery or at-home appointments for those in need.

At the end of May 2021, over 70% of the adult population in Tamworth were confirmed to have received at least one dose of a vaccine, let's see it through to 100% !

As I write this month’s column, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is on TV in the background - I know Tamworth is united behind all our athletes in Team GB. It has been a great start to the week with the first medals coming through, including for Staffordshire’s own Adam Peaty with more to come!
